The total number of traffic crashes reported by the Hialeah Police Department in 2018 dropped by 16% compared to 2017.  That’s a decrease of over 800 accidents year over year.

That decrease in accidents also resulted in a commensurate reduction in the number of injuries.  The total number of accident injuries dropped from 2,173 in 2017 to 1,821 in 2018 or down 16%.


Despite the overall reduction in accidents, traffic fatalities increased in Hialeah by 30% from 23 in 2017 to 30 in 2018.


Pedestrian involved accidents dropped by 8% in Hialeah to 115 in 2018 compared to 125 in 2017.  However, pedestrian fatalities more than doubled from 8 in 2017 to 17 in 2018.


Bicycle accidents dropped from 44 in 2017 to 40 in 2018 or a reduction of 9%.  Bicycle fatalities also dropped from 2 in 2017 to just 1 in 2018.
